Achal Surinder Kapoor also known Boney Kapoor was born on November 11, 1955 is an Indian film producer who has produced many Bollywood films like Mr. India, No Entry, Judaai and Wanted to his credit. He was married to actress Sridevi until her death in 2018. He is the older brother of actor-producers Anil Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor and the father of film actors Arjun Kapoor and Janhvi Kapoor. His first marriage was to producer Mona Shourie.
Kapoor was married to Mona Shourie from 1983 to 1996 and the couple have two children, Arjun Kapoor (b. 1985) and Anshula (b. 1990). Arjun made his acting debut in the 2012 film Ishaqzaade while Anshula graduated from Barnard College.
Kapoor married Indian actress Sridevi on June 2, 1996. The couple had two daughters, Janhvi Kapoor (born March 6, 1997) and Khushi (born November 5, 2000). On February 24, 2018, Sridevi died in Dubai after drowning in her hotel bathtub. The Kapoor family of Prithviraj Kapoor are also his distant relatives as Prithviraj was Surinder’s cousin.
He acquired the Tamil and Telugu remake rights of the 2016 Hindi film Pink. He produced the Tamil version of the film in 2019 under the name Nerkonda Paarvai, which became a critical success. Later in 2021, he produced the Telugu version of the film starring Dil Raju of Sri Venkateswara Creations as Vakeel Saab with Pawan Kalyan, Anjali, Nivetha Thomas and Ananya Nagalla in the lead roles. The film is the highest opening in India after the COVID-19 pandemic, grossing over Rs 38 crore on its first day. The two films are debuting in Kollywood (Tamil) and Tollywood (Telugu) respectively.
