Wisconsin volleyball team leaked unedited Link: In a statement, the University of Wisconsin announced that the UW-Madison Police Department is actively investigating “multiple crimes” following the unauthorized sharing of private photos and videos involving members of the women’s volleyball team on the internet.
“We are aware that private photos and video of UW volleyball student-athletes that were never intended to be shared publicly are being circulated digitally,” UW athletics said in a statement Wednesday.
“The unauthorized sharing is a significant and wrongful invasion of the student-athletes’ privacy, including potential violations of university slices and criminal statutes.”
UW reports on the Wisconsin volleyball team leaked that upon discovering the circulation of these images, members of the volleyball team promptly reached out to the university police.
“UWPD is investigating multiple crimes, including sharing sensitive photos without consent,” the statement read. “UWPD is not investigating the volleyball student-athletes for wrongdoing in this matter.
“Our top priority is supporting our student-athletes and we are providing them with the appropriate services and resources.”
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel has reported that a significant portion of the content, originally posted without the players’ consent, has been removed from the websites. One of the photos received by the Sentinel depicts several players having their sports bras lifted during the team’s private celebration following their Big Ten title victory in November.
Wisconsin’s volleyball team, led by Coach Kelly Sheffield, stands as one of the university’s most accomplished programs. Ranked No. 5 in the nation, UW has achieved remarkable success, having reached the Final Four in the last three seasons and making it to the final match three times within the past decade.
