Mel Columcille Gerard Gibson AO IS born January 3, 1956, known Mel Gibson is an American actor, director, producer and screenwriter. He is best known for his roles as action heroes, particularly his role as Max Rockatansky in the first three films of the post-apocalyptic action series Mad Max and that of Martin Riggs in the Lethal Weapon buddy film series. Born in Peekskill, New York, Gibson moved with his parents to Sydney, Australia at the age of 12. He studied theater at the National Institute of Dramatic Arts, where he performed alongside Judy Davis in a production of Romeo and Juliet.

In the 1980s, he founded Icon Entertainment, a production company, which independent director Atom Egoyan called “an alternative to the studio system”. Director Peter Weir chose him as one of the protagonists of the First World War drama Gallipoli (1981), which earned Gibson the Australian Film Institute’s Best Actor award, as well as a reputation as serious and versatile actor.

In 1995, Gibson produced, directed and starred in Braveheart, a historic epic, for which he won the Golden Globe Award for Best Director, the Oscar for Best Director and the Oscar for Best Picture. He went on to direct and produce The Passion of Christ, a financially successful and highly controversial biblical drama. He received a new review for his work as the director of the action-adventure film Apocalypto (2006), which is set in Mesoamerica in the early 16th century.

After 26 years of marriage, Mel and Robyn Gibson separated on July 29, 2006. In an interview in 2011, Gibson said the separation began the day after his arrest for impaired driving in Malibu. Robyn Gibson filed for divorce on April 13, 2009, Gibson’s divorce was finalized on December 23, 2011, and the settlement with his ex-wife is believed to be the highest in Hollywood history at over $ 400 million. Since 2014, Gibson has been in a relationship with former show jumping champion and writer Rosalind Ross. Ross gave birth to their son and Gibson’s ninth child, Lars Gerard, on January 20, 2017 in Los Angeles.
