Tobias Vincent Maguire was born June 27, 1975 known as Tobey Maguire is an American actor and film producer. He is best known for playing the main character in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy (2002-2007). His other films include Pleasantville (1998), Ride with the Devil (1999), The Cider House Rules (1999), Wonder Boys (2000), Seabiscuit (2003), The Good German (2006), Brothers (2009) and The Grand Gatsby (2013).

He received two Saturn Awards, including one for best actor. Maguire started his own production company in 2012 called Material Pictures, and co-produced Good People the same year. In 2014 he produced and starred as Bobby Fischer in Pawn Sacrifice.

Maguire has been a vegetarian since 1992; in 2009 he became vegan. He changed his diet to gain or lose weight for movie roles: he drastically decreased his calorie intake for Seabiscuit, followed by a rapid increase to gain weight for Spider-Man 2. Maguire has been sober since he was old. 19 years old, having experienced “some difficulties” with alcohol in his late teens.

Maguire met jewelry designer Jennifer Meyer in 2003 while filming Seabiscuit at Universal Studios, and they got engaged in April 2006, two months after conceiving a child. Their daughter was born in November of the same year. Maguire and Meyer were married on September 3, 2007 in Kailua Kona, Hawaii. Their second child, a son, was born in May 2009. On October 18, 2016, the couple announced their separation after nine years of marriage. In 2020, Meyer filed for divorce.

In 2004, Maguire entered tournament poker. He finished in the money in several events and was mentored by poker pro Daniel Negreanu. Maguire can be seen on ESPN’s cover of the 2005, 2006 and 2007 World Series of Poker Main Event Championship. He was one of several celebrities, along with Leonardo DiCaprio and Ben Affleck, who took part in the poker games at Molly Bloom’s big stakes at The Viper Room in the mid-2000s, and received negative media coverage for allegedly asking Bloom to “bark like a seal.” for a $ 1,000 poker chip after a tournament he won
